THE SPIRIT OF BACARDI
Originated in 1862, BACARDI Superior rum is the original, mixable, light-bodied rum aged between one and two years in carefully selected oak barrels. After ageing, the rums are blended and passed through a second charcoal filtration to achieve maximum clarity and characteristic BACARDI smoothness.

EVOLUTION OF THE BAT
In its infancy a memorable graphic logo was required to help differentiate Bacardi rum from its competition. Legend has it that one evening Don Facundo’s wife, Doña Amalia Moreau, watched as a colony of fruit bats took flight from her husband’s old tin-roofed distillery in Santiago de Cuba. One broke away from the colony and flew directly across the front of the crimson setting sun. Doña Amalia saw this as an omen and from that day forward the image of the bat became Bacardi rum’s famous brand logo. It has since appeared on every Bacardi rum product and is recognized in over 170 countries as a mark of authenticity, quality, craftsmanship and a pride in producing great quality rum. The bat is a sign of good fortune, good health and good family.
